Residence Inn Fort Myers Sanibel

We stayed here in 2020 and were appalled at How much the hotel had gone downhill so we didn't stay here again for 5 years. We decided to give it a try again due to the close proximity to the Sanibel causeway and the fact that we couldn't stay on the island since hurricane Ian. We were pleasantly surprised at the turnaround. This was the perfect place for 2 couples as we each had a bedroom and bathroom with a shared kitchen/living space. The breakfast was great, from the free-range eggs to the homemade banana bread that someone walked around to offer to guests. That showed me that they go the extra step instead of cheaping out like so many businesses these days. They also had free cookies and sangria upon check-in, and the staff were all great. We will definitely be returning.

My recent stay at the Residence Inn by Marriott Fort Myers Sanibel (20371 Summerlin Road, check-in on August 30, 2025. During this stay, we encountered several issues: 1. Housekeeping & Amenities • One bathroom had no conditioner. Even after reporting this to the front desk, no replacement was ever provided. • The other bathroom had clumps of hair on the wall, clearly showing it had not been cleaned thoroughly. • The power outlets and light on one side of the bed were not functioning. 2. Safety & Staff Response Most concerning, the fire alarm went off in the middle of the night. My family and I evacuated down six flights of stairs, along with several other guests. During this stressful event, there were no staff members visible to provide direction, reassurance, or instructions. After some time, we returned to the lobby ourselves, only to eventually learn that the alarm had been triggered by someone burning food in their room. The lack of staff support or communication during a fire alarm is alarming and unacceptable. Guest safety should always be a top priority, and the absence of employee presence left everyone feeling unsafe and uninformed. This stay was very disappointing and fell short of the standards I have come to expect from the Marriott brand.

It was a comfortable, quiet night with pleasant staff. The breakfast had many options. Only negative was that I received a daily parking charge that I wasn’t aware of. The pool/ spa areas were under repair construction which they made us aware of and will soon be completed.

Trip At check in we requested a room with a balcony and a marsh view which we didn’t get. There was cockroaches in the room and blood on the window curtains. The staff was very friendly and they had a good breakfast.

Great place to stay Wonderful staff, so frienfly and helpful. The breakfast was great. Easy and comfortable.

Rooms were a nice size, clean and affordable. We enjoyed the breakfast every morning with the comfort of not leaving the property. Will definitely stay again.
